Baltimore’s busiest public park pool reopened just in time for summer with major improvements, thanks to RK&K’s Construction Management/Inspection group.
The $10 million project for the city’s Department of Recreation and Parks involved the renovation and full upgrade of Druid Hill Park’s 60-year existing pool and its accompanying recreational center.
RK&K’s team provided construction management and inspection services, including facilitating progress and other meetings, as well as project controls and document control services.
Renovations included the demolition of the old facility and the construction of a one-story bathhouse with lockers, including showers and bathrooms. It also featured the installment of a children’s pool with water slides, climbing walls, diving board with an elevated play structure, and restoring the 12-foot dive pool and its pool deck, as well as building the new pump house.
“Our pools serve as a fantastic resource and gathering space for communities all across Baltimore, providing a safe venue for Baltimoreans to enjoy themselves while escaping the summer heat,” said Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott as he joined city leaders at the pool’s annual Big Splash event.
