The new 102,000 gross square foot nursing facility will double the space available for Catholic the school’s nursing program. The building will feature learning spaces, simulation labs, science labs, student spaces, public spaces, office spaces, building support, and below-grade parking.
RK&K led civil engineering services on the Architecture and Engineering team for this design effort, which is led by Ayer Saint Gross with support from Robert A. M. Stern Architects. The facility is expected to be completed in late 2023 and opened to students in 2024.
This work isn’t the team’s only contribution to the improved Catholic University campus.
RK&K was also the civil engineer for the recently completed Garvey Hall dinning facility, which can be seen from the upper floor of the nursing school.
RK&K also provided survey, site civil, structural, and telecom relocation engineering services for the development of a permanent plaza for the three-and-a-half-ton bronze “Angels Unawares” sculpture, which includes a reflecting pool, seating, and an exhibit regarding the statue’s history on the campus.
