Several RK&K employees recently volunteered to help set up The Wall That Heals, a traveling exhibit created by the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund currently on display at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina.
The Wall That Heals is a replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. that honors the more than three million Americans who served in the U.S. armed forces in the Vietnam War and bears the names of the 58,281 men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice.
“I was honored to help with the setup of The Wall That Heals. We owe a debt to those who serve that cannot be fully repaid,” said Transportation Manager Roman Prokopovych, PE. “Hopefully, this exhibit provides some comfort to the families and loved ones of those lost and serves as an opportunity for all of us to pause and reflect on the sacrifices made by all members of our armed forces.”

RK&K team members from our Charlotte office help set up The Wall That Heals at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina.Unveiled in 1995, The Wall That Heals has touched nearly 700 communities throughout the nation, spreading the Memorial’s healing legacy to millions. In 2021, the exhibit was on the road for more than 13,000 miles and visited 26 communities.
Administrative Assistant Tiara Carswell said she worked alongside a Vietnam veteran who also volunteered to help. She said he told her how much the exhibit and the volunteers meant to him personally, noting the struggles he had during the war and after returning home.

“I decided to volunteer to be more involved in helping the Charlotte community. Exhibits like The Wall That Heals are important to remember our country’s history and honor the loved ones we’ve lost along the way,” said Associate Engineer Carter Moreau, EIT.
