Karen Kahl, RK&K’s Director of Transportation in Baltimore, has been selected to receive the prestigious ACEC National Community Service Award for 2020.
This national ACEC award recognizes a principal or manager of an ACEC Member Firm who has made outstanding contributions to the quality of life in his or her community. Nominations for the Community Service Award are made by a State Organization or the Chairman of the Fellows Committee.
According to the ACEC, the extensive list of criteria for this award includes the following:
- The nominees shall be outstanding individuals who have been involved in community service such as board, commissions or community groups and shall have demonstrated a sustained commitment to their communities.
- The nominees shall be perceived by the public in their communities as leaders.
- The nominees may demonstrate, through their civic involvement, how the quality of life in their community has been enhanced.
…and many more.
Karen Kahl previously won the Community Service Award for the ACEC/MD in February 2020, but this is her first time winning the award on the national stage. When asked about the award, Karen said, “I am incredibly honored and humbled to receive this award from the national level of ACEC!”
As part of this award, Karen Kahl will be recognized at the upcoming ACEC Virtual Fall Conference on October 28-30. This reimagined event will feature high profile speakers, educational sessions on industry hot topics, CEO roundtables, networking lounges, and a virtual Exhibit Hall.
