Despite a late and cold spring we had a very successful plant sale! Our third highest amount since we began 9 years ago in 2004. The sale again was held at the Pleasant View Auditorium on Sat. from 9-Noon. We started on Friday afternoon at 1:00, arranging tables, wiping off pots, pricing and placing plants in their correct categories. We had more houseplants this year than in years past and lovely tomato plants. Not as many hostas and of course can always use more shade plants.
One of our scholarship recipients attended the sale-Amy Silver from Monticello. She received her certificate and will receive her $300.00 after she finishes her first semester and shows proof of re-registration. The other two $300.00 scholarships will go to Bryce Klitzke and Cody Rufer.
A big thank you to all of the members that helped set up on Friday, helped during the sale on Saturday and contributed plants for the sale. Thank you to Jayne for making posters, advertising, taking photos, and helped get the info to members, Lynn, as treasurer getting the money box ready, and to Mark for guiding us, hauling supplies and for putting out our signs so the shoppers can find us.
After the sale, members could take their own plants back home or leave them. Extra Tomato plants were donated to the Green County Community Support Program garden and the Albany Community garden. About $200.00 worth of plants were left for the Relay for Life plant sale. A few plants will be used at Pleasant View flower beds and at the Justice Center/Extension office entrance area.
