Last week, the RK&K team was joined by Chesapeake, VA Mayor Rick West to celebrate the opening of the Poindexter Street Bridge with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The team provided construction management and inspection for this $13.1 million locally administered project, replacing the 22nd Street Bridge over the Norfolk Southern railroad. The project involved the demolition of the existing bridge, inspection of the new structural steel bridge, storm sewer, MSE wall construction, traffic signals, lighting, and roadway.
Prior to construction, RK&K developed the testing requirements for compliance with the Virginia Department of Transportation LAP Manual. Additionally, our team provided a constructability review of contract documents to identify risk areas and mitigation measures.
Congratulations to everybody who helped make the project a success!
