The Project
RK&K led a team charged with preparing a Revised Environmental Assessment of the I-95 Fredericksburg Extension and obtaining a FONSI (Finding of No Significant Impact) from the Federal Highway Administration. The study focused on the addition of reversible High Occupancy Toll (HOT) lanes on I-95 from the US 17 North interchange at Warrenton Road (Exit 133) to south of the I-95 / Russell Road interchange (Exit 148).
RK&K prepared an update of environmental conditions along the corridor and examined potential impacts to social and environmental resources. This included a field inventory of natural resources along 28 miles of I-95 and an investigation of the Waters of the United States. RK&K also completed a noise analysis and coordinated environmental results with VDOT’s Public-Private Partnership (P3) concessionaire to more efficiently advance design of the new HOT lanes.
